This year we all met up at Stoney Cove on the second Saturday of January

How about repeating that on Saturday 7th January 2017?

    Anyone interested? Stoney or NDAC?

I'm up for that if it's at Stoney, unfortunately NDAC is too far for me, even though I prefer the site.

[pedant mode] the second Saturday in January is the 14th [/ p mode off]

I'm a possible - my kids birthdays fall in early January so diving could be tricky.

Either would be fine for me on the 7th but not the 14th.

Don't think that I'm ready to step into water that cold with my limited dry suit experience - hopefully 2018.

I'm a possible for Stoney on the 7th. In need of a pink pass. Wish me luck.

Not quite true, the extra layers underneath means that you are dealing with a greater volume of air in the suit in cold water. My current record in dry suits is disaster* 2, barely adequate 1, good 2 and my maximum depth 8m. I'd like to get a couple of dives in a pool to get accustomed to the new kit and start to sort out weighting.

I'll come and dive with you in good time, small steps.

*When I was wearing more layers than I needed for the temperature at the time

Fairy snuff.... it's just a bit of a shame to miss the opportunity of all that experience... who knows, we may even be able to help you.... but your choice buddy, you've got to be comfortable.

I was exactly the same first time i went last year, only had 7 dives under my belt and i was in a wetsuit

BUT......i learned so much just being in the water with better divers.
watching vids on utube on how to trim in water and how a profile should look like is nothing like doing it for real

I'd say come along anyway - early Jan is not proper cold.

If I can get a pass, I will happily play on the shelf with you and work on your buoyancy. It's not deep (max 7m) and there is enough to see / do to keep us entertained.

Alright, you've worn me down. I've organised two shakedown dives in December in pools and will bowl up to Stoney on 7th January for the first proper outing of the new suit.
