The diver who swelled up to double his size after getting the bends: Seafood worker was left horribly deformed after rising too quickly from the depths
    • Alejandro Ramos Martinez went diving for fish in Peru but surfaced too quickly
    • He suffered a grotesque form of the bends that has inflated his chest and arms
    • He gained over 4st and has outsized, balloon-like sacs packed with nitrogen
    • Doctors are treating the unlucky fisherman but are unable to remove all the air
    Hilarious

    Wow.
Gained nearly five stone due to retained nitrogen.
    "Nearly" Five stone = 31kg

31kg of N2 = approx 22000 litres at standard temperature and pressure.

If we assume that the swelling in his body is around 20 litres (not unreasonable, looking at the pictures), therefore the pressure in the so-called bubbles of N2 is around 1000 bar.
Or maybe he is just very cold, and the bubbles are liquid nitrogen?

Or maybe it's just crap reporting?

(I now need to go and have a shower having been exposed to the Daily Hate-Mail.)

I must have absorbed more nitrogen in my foot on that deep dive on Saturday. Will explain why it's all swollen and sore.

Nothing to do with the sprain. Like this geezer; nothing to do with an infection or fluid retention...
