Been working on the boat's nether regions over the weekend. Still need to glass the skeg back on, but all the engineering's been done: replaced the propshaft and cutlass bearing; installed a new packless seal (PSS) and installed a vent so no 'burping' required; replaced the rudder bearings (amazing what a 3kg lump hammer will do to get bearings inserted).

Still hoping to get her launched in a couple of weeks. We are sailing, we are sailing...

Got to go to the office tomorrow - need to earn money to go and play...

Love to come for a sail when it's ready - I'm driving again and, as long as I'm careful when dealing with long flexible things (sheets, halyards, warps etc. etc), I should be fine.

Caving after work - it's dark underground no matter what time you do it!

Glad I couldn't see the bottom of the first rift we descended, a solid 10m drop which you free climb down (sounds worse than it is, the rift is only 2ft wide so you sort of wiggle / slide down between the two walls). I few crazy shapes, earthworm impressions and belly crawling stints had us getting out the cave in time for last orders at the pub. Despite the best efforts of the 'final squeeze' right at the lower entrance of the cave (our exit point), reading the book.. it says that anyone over 15 stone can forget about this one - can say with a 42" chest it was a struggle!

Think I've got most the mud out of my hair now!

Do you think you'll ever do similar underwater?

About a year ago, I bought a fully sealed camera, the SeaLife micro HD+. After a while, I noticed it steaming up inside. At first I thought I was imagining it, but eventually realised I wasn't and there may be a problem with the seal (which was a real shame as it was a great easy-to-use dive camera otherwise). Anyway, I eventually took it back to Ocean Leisure where I bought it who sent it back to Scubapro who are the UK distributors. Very pleased today to find it has been replaced, free of charge, with the newer slightly higher resolution Micro HD 2.0. I'm therefore a very happy customer. Well done Scubapro.

I'm approaching it with an open mind.

I enjoy the dry caving side of things, it's like a natural assault course and you see some pretty spectacular things. Some of the cave formations have been genuinely impressive and well.. so unlike anything I'd seen before. The diving becomes an extension of that, a tool to get you passed the sump.

But it's not diving for diving.. it's high risk, hard work just getting to the waters edge and certainly isn't glamorous. The upside, no seasickness! As someone who suffers 'Mal de Mere' the simple fact of not being sick / feeling nauseous is fantastic.

All based on what I've seen of the UK cave stuff so far! I hear its much more civilised abroad ;)

That is not the best place to begin the negotiation! No wiggle room..... start higher... MUCH higher...
