It was a lovely 5C in Leybourne on Wednesday. Well worth the risk assessment for an out-of-hours dive. Viz was so good I could still see the swans’ bums from 5m.

We are having a bit of a phase of poor viz here currently. Down too about 2m in some areas. Its also a tad cold in the sea at 24°C.

Hoping for exceedingly good vis tomorrow - anything over 2m will be delightful. And if the water's over 8 degrees, what a bonus that would be!

My lack of fitness annoyed me today. On the other hand though, I got to dive with leeches, which has always been a dream of mine. And none of them made their way into my suit, hood or boots.

You have weird dreams! Care to expand on why you were diving with leeches?

A trip to Sump 9 in Swildon’s which involves diving through a number of sumps in the streamway beneath farmland (not long or deep and we bypassed two of them).

Just goats up there now I’m told, apparently it used to be a lot worse.

Wasn’t too smelly and I did enjoy it, just tired myself out a bit lugging gear in and out. I need to practice crawling up and down steps for hours on end with a 20kg plate.

Crawling through farm waste and leeches! You're not selling this caving lark to me.

You’d love it being a Yorkshireman (or Derbyshire??). You’re spoilt up there too. I’ve got a 2.5hr drive to anything interesting, must be about 15 mins for you.

Yorkshireman living in Derbyshire and yeah it's 15-20 mins to Bakewell. I'm still not convinced by the leeches though.

Arrived at Sandals Grenada yesterday, with its free scuba. Checked in with the dive centre and presented my nitrox card to be told they don't have it. I checked this several months ago and its availability was confirmed. The dives won't be that deep, so no great harm but it pi**es me off that they lie to you - a complaint will be made.

Had a double blowout on my way home from the Forest of Dean today. That's two tyres I could do without buying (especially as one of them was a week old).

Next to last day in Grenada, descended and spotted something interesting to video and found my go-pro look-alike had flooded. Just taken it apart back at the hotel and it's a goner. Don't think that I'll bother to replace as, even it everything works, you get rubbish colour and never bother to look at it again. I'll just concentrate on enjoying the moment.
Will add a trip report in the next few days.

I was looking forward to my first dive in the sea this year, with a shore dive in Scarborough with some of the club. Someone checked the vis about 3 this afternoon, it looked really good so I drove the 96 miles up there. By the time I arrived at 7pm, it had turned choppy and the sea had turned to soup. Quick pint, then 96 miles back again!

At least I got to catch up with the radio 4 news quiz podcast on the long drive.

For some reason I’ve turned into a bit of a gas guzzler, i’ve noticed this in my logs but hilighted yesterday on the boat as our second dive ended up a bit short. Even last weekend in divers cove shallow inland site this was high and that was a very calm sedate dive.

Maybe I should start up swimming again or in fact any form of exercise.

Doubt you’re anywhere near me in respect of RMV rate.

No matter how fit or unfit I am it makes no difference.

It's really odd. The other day when you ascended we were 90 bar different, yet when following you you're not emitting a stream of bubbles, looks 'normal' from my perspective.

Thinking a bit more, it might not have been as bad as that as I started with 260 bar when I dropped in.

Just had an email from Skindeep cancelling my dive on the Arfon on 28/6/18.

No explanation, not a fucking sausage, just ‘sorry we’ve had to cancel.’

Very annoying. Is the M2 still on and are you still doing it?

    M2 hasn’t been cancelled yet!

Had a response to my email: ‘lack of interest’ apparently. Shame as there’s still over two weeks to go so I’d have thought it very premature to bin it now, particularly as people have paid.
