Well after an excellent weekend Swanage meet in July I guess its time to arrange the next one. Thinking along the lines of doing the shallower OW dives on one of the days and the deeper tec stuff on the other day. I know its a long way off but these things seem to take forever to arrange. So who`s interested? The list so far 1. @jps 2. @Wibble 3. @furryman 4.....................
Excellent. I'll get around to booking the hotel / room early this time. I ended up getting a room 25 miles away in Bournemouth this year - seems like Swanage rooms are like rocking-horse droppings.
Well as I live in lovely Bournemouth it would be rude not to come along all being well. I have no idea how to add me to the list so if someone could do the honours please?
Tentative yes. The club always does a Swanage weekend in July, plus my birthday plus all the end of school nonsense means I may not be free.
I'll probably look at the Auberge for accommodation... for anyone who doesnt mind sharing a room http://www.swanageauberge.co.uk/
I have put this in my diary... now all I have to do is save up to afford the B&B that Mrs Furry will want us to stay in and the meal in the trattoria on Sunday evening!
Add me for diving; non-diving management will come too. All being well, I should be a reasonably competent dry suit single tin diver on nitrox by then, good for 30m but happier a bit shallower. Would there be someone to buddy me? I don't want to drag you guys from your deep wrecks. We are currently looking at Poole for a hotel - would this be a problem?
Is it an open invite? I've always been keen to dive Swanage. JohnL, I would happily buddy you on the stuff within your limits. I don't go past 40myself... One day I'll do these clever Tec bits bit not this year...
JohnL - I am only 30m max too - I will be coming over from Bournemouth (home) so you should be good from Poole.......early start 'tis all
The beauty of Swanage is there really is something for everyone. Don't know what time the dives start, but this year we did a stupid o'clock dive (0625 ropes off) on the Kyarra and then a couple of shallow dives - Valentine Tanks and a drift. Then a trip under the pier too! It's lovely diving. I do hope we get the weather again that we had this year. The more the merrier and literally any qualification from OW/OD onwards. We'll all meet up on the pier and have a fun day out. Please bare in mind that Swanage is a sod to find accommodation as it's quite limited, so please book your rooms sooner rather than later. Also the pier only has about 25 parking spaces which fill up very early. If you do a crazy early dive, they'll open the pier specially for those divers on the list. So we got let in this year at 0515 on Saturday and 0530 on Sunday (no late nights for us!)
B&B booked, so Mrs Furry and myself are confirmed (assuming work doesn't get in the way). I presume that as we get closer to the date we will have another five hundred posts debating what dives to do, and then we will all do Kyarra, Aeolian Sky and Black Hawk (bow), plus a pier dive or two.
Just a note to stress that accommodation is scarce in Swanage - best to book early. I ended up staying in Bournemouth last year.
So I have started looking in to options for the Saturday. Is there any OW divers wishing to do any boat dives on the Saturday?
