Too much. As I said, there's a 3mm BP in ally or stainless in my future.
Yes, more practice required.
The weekend in Salcombe was fucking awesome, even if it did end a day early thanks to the weather.
The unit performed flawlessly and two very good dives were done, my only concern now is that I'm going to have to pay for the KT travel frame.
Surely old ones are cheap now everyone's migrating to the G-Box?
It most certainly is cheap, still got to pay for it though.
You still have a loose nut on the end of the handset though.
Hows that gas bank you bought on the never-never?
Bloody typical. You have nothing to pay for for weeks and then two come along at once...
There's an update to this happy tale in the works, watch this space...
Mum alarmed at brothers facebook comments? x
Probably, but who listens to their mother anyway?
The original update didn't pan out, so have this instead;
I bought a complete new head with HUD, controller and trimix computer from AV Underwater Technologies in Moscow. I paid for it by wire transfer last Tuesday and it arrived today. I don't have any decent pics yet, but here's a taster;
Sweet, nice duvet, sorry head methingy.
Three dives in and everything is working as expected (except the cells... D'oh! ) The oldest cell went non-linear at depth after the dive started, reading about 0.25 higher than the other two, the HUD and handset let me know what was going on without drama.
It's a piece of piss to set up but some of the options take some thinking about, including the switch to OC, but the solenoid is much quieter than the Mk1 in my Classic head; I always knew it working from the easily audible "psssst", like a heartbeat, I have to actually stop breathing and listen for it now. Especially if I'm diving with a bunch of bubble-blowers...
I was actually hoping to have more to say, but it's been boringly predictable so far. I will say that losing the paddles is worth the purchase cost alone. I fucking hated the paddles.
What you are trying to say is that it is a great success as it does exactly what it should do - as a total ignoramus on such kit, it doesn't sound as if it could get much better. Well done.
How old are these cells that keep failing? If you're binning them, you could send them to me and I'll run them though my cell checker to see how bad they are if you like.
Unless AP are replacing them under warranty.....
The first failure was dated 10-2015 and was supplied by Narked in Jan 2016. It was just out of warranty. The second was dated 03-2016 and was supplied by Narked on 05/04/2016 so should still be in warranty. I'll find out tomorrow how good that warranty is...
Thanks for the offer, I still have the 10-2015 cell somewhere. PM me your address and I'll send it over.
