Having seen the condition of some wrecks and the desire to have seen them when first discovered with all main items in place, should there be more legislation to control wanton destruction and looting of this heritage? I believe it is illegal in French waters.

How do you control trawling, salvage and natural degradation?

Unfortunately you'll only see pristine wrecks for a period of time after they sink. If you want people to be able to enjoy the artefacts from them for years to come you'll need to lift, preserve and display them - much as we do with our land-based heritage.

I suspect the majority of the tat is languishing in peoples houses, gardens, garages or sheds. You've seen one porthole, why would more need to be displayed?

The other problem is that most museums aren't interested in more - so even if you offered it they may not take it.

A season later though and some portholes you enjoyed the previous year may be buried/broken under collapsed bits of wreck.

It's a tricky one and whilst I don't agree with ripping bits off wrecks for the sake of it I can appreciate wanting to lift, preserve and enjoy an artefact or recovering items in order to help identify a wreck.

Just sit back and marvel at the military precision of the planning behind an Idjit trip!

Well as the Original H&S,Parking& logistical Idjit usually referred to as the Speshul Idjit. The original planning has never been done Neil. It all started as usual with one of Pete's Think of a date and say we shall go diving.

Logistic: Get up at Stupid O clock on Monday and drive 2-3hrs
or Book camp site and pay £5.00 per tent and have a relaxed Drive on the Sunday.

Guess which One I have chosen. :)

Like the new avatar Paul and if you want to see a wreck in pristine condition - I'll try and arrange a time when you can view me.
