I need to send my inspo to AP to be checked over. Have any of you posted your rebreather and if so what's the best way?

    Ta.

Mine was posted to me when I bought it. He used the Inspo crate which is just an attached lid container but plenty tough enough.

    Yes. Yes you should. ;)

It seems to be pot luck these days, all the couriers are shite at some point.

I just got an online quote from parcelforce. With insurance it comes to 122 quid!! For that, I'd rather take it to cornwall myself!

One came to me on behalf of someone else via ups. Google send a parcel to Cornwall/uk and you should find comparison sites popping up, not sent a unit but costs for sending a backplate or 2 recently have been ok. Have you asked AP? for the head alone they’ve sorted postage for me through a local drop off centre.

I sent my lid to them recently. Cost me £37 with £500 insurance.

Ended up using hermes as they collect from you.

Are you sure you need to ship the whole thing to them?

When I last wanted a big service, I took it apart. Got the lungs, inflators, adv, BOV and head in a pretty standard size box. What else needs servicing? In fact, most of that is DIYable

The problem you're going to have is insurance.

    1) Insuring a package that costs a few grand will be VERY expensive
    2) Have a look at the list of exemptions on the couriers website. It'll be vague and lengthy.

In the end I sent it uninsured. If I was to do it again, I wouldn't rule out making it a holiday to Cornwall.

You'll get a nice box on the return of your lid though.

    Thanks guys.

I've taken some of it to bits already and it's mostly going for a check over to make sure all is in order before I do MOD1. The head was serviced and had the 2020 handset fitted in 2018 and hasn't been used since, so I'm not expecting that to need anything major.

I'll have a look into some of the suggestions. I appreciate your help.

If you speak to ap they can arrange getting it sent by dpd for you. Just ask them and tell them to add the shipping to your bill. They charge £30 to send your head and that's fully insured for the £2600 if your head gets lost. Not sure about price on sending unit.
