Interesting choice - what prompted it?

Prompted what the stand or the Poseidon (the stand makes it more stable) the Poseidon was an easy way to go rebreather diving.

    Hi Joe

sorry, my question was aimed at the MK6 and why you chose that over a classic or such like.

    Hi Hawk
I help a instructor who teaches on the Poseidon and at the time they were on offer 4K new. I know a lot of people don't like them but I've done over 100 dives on it and never missed a dive yet there easy to put together and look after.

I get that and agree that they are simple / easy to use.

I was offered one super cheap about 6 months ago and was very, very tempted but by the time I added in cost of training and buying a battery that allowed me to dive as deep as I am currently qualified I decided against it.

Batteries come up all the time for sale I've had a blue that I sold now have a white, you do need to know if it's if the head is 48mts or 60mts, I just did a PADI course but dive it to my ART level

    Batteries?
Why different heads for different depths?

(Don't dive CC, not familiar with Poseidon, just curious to learn more)

    Hi Wibble
the first Mk6's were only rated to 48mts they then upgraded the head for 60mts which is the limit for a mk6 for deeper dives you need Se7en which is rated to 100mts. The batteries carry the software ie: Green 40mts no deco(rec) blue trimix 48mts deco, White 60mt deco. Black for Se7en only 100mts hope that helps

    Interesting, thanks.

Have to ask the supplementary question..!

What happens if you were to drop deeper? Would it lock up? For example the recreational one would (I assume) use air diluent and so could easily be flown below 40m. Also, no deco, how would it stop you from pushing your limits, e.g. staying for an hour at 35m?

It wont lock out it has a vibrating mouth piece and HUD which will flash plus at the back theirs a buddy light that flashes red if you go to deep or stay to long, once back Inside limits it just goes back to normal working

So out of interest, what kind of ball park prices are these extra battery/software modules? Am I right in thinking it uses pre-packed scrubber canisters also? How much do they cost and how long are they rated for use?

I'm pretty sure there are user packable cans too.

Ok so if you have a later model MK6 which can use a white battery allowing you to use trimix with min o2 of 16% so 60mts (mod 2) a new battery will cost 300.00 as for scrubbers the prepacks I can get for 20.00 each there rated for 3hrs I have a self pack scrubber which costs about 8.00 to fill.(with my o2 use I could do up to 5hrs on a scrubber)

    2.6KG lime = 390 lts Co2
1.2lts o2 per min = 1.0lt Co2 per min = 6.5 hrs so 5hrs +1.5hrs reserve I'm not saying this is for every one just my own thoughts

    WTF is this?

Are you assuming you can use all of the lime before any CO2 breaks through. Who the fuck taught you this shit?

I'm not assuming that at all. if I use 120 bar of o2 from a 3lt and used all that o2 ie never vented the loop I would make 300lts of Co2 I think a freshly packed scrubber of 2.6kg of lime can take up 390lts of Co2. If you think that's wrong please let me know.
