Well some of you on here may recognise me of old, many of you probably not......

I've not been active on the forums or even Diving over the last year or so.... for not particular reason other than my enthusiasm drifted away...... I've debated with myself, the options of giving up diving totally or just giving up UK diving and reducing myself to a "Holiday Diver".... but I could never quite bring myself to sell any of my UK diving equipment.......

and so, that brings me back full circle to this post..... I've just sent my regs off for a full service as they've been sat idle for way too long with a view to giving UK diving one more go..... to see if my spark is re-ignited or if indeed it isn't......

So I thought i'd drop by here, say hi, re-introduce myself and who knows..... I might see some of you around.....

How the devil are you old bean. We've missed you:)

    More sidemounters around now... :bag:

In fact due to a cock-up over depths and gasses, I'm going to do my first seawater sidemount dive tomorrow! Been using it a lot in quarries, mines, caves, pools, but not off a boat. (Had gassed up my backmount for 32m using 32%, which Wrecksite said the wreck was at, but it turns out it's at 40m and I have 26% in my sidemount tins)

Hi Wibs, yes, it's been a fair old while eh!

I like the sound of a few more SM'ers... we were a little thin on the ground last time I was around these parts..... so you've taken the plunge yourself, presumably for your mine/cave diving mainly? How do you like it? What system did you go for?

I'll be dipping my toes in gently to begin with and then deciding if i should sack the UK diving once and for all..... gonna feel a little rusty, so will stick to the puddles at least to start with until i get some confidence back... :)

XDeep Stealth Tec. Kind of a 'standard' harness with a reasonable BCD. Bit of a sod to get to the bum-mounted dump, and a massive amount of faffing to configure it, but now I'm very comfy with it.

Main benefit is carting single tins around rather than hernia-inducing twinsets. Have a selection of tins to play with and am collecting a pair of 8.5s this weekend ready to play with in White Lady et al next weekend. May well do a pool dip beforehand to check weighting & trim.

Absolutely love the amazing trim and flexibility that sidemount offers.

    See, i wasn't wrong was I.... :whistling:

Glad you're enjoying it though.... i'm very unlikely to go back to (proper) tech... 35-45m is probably my max once i get back into it.... and that might only be in warm waters abroad.... guess i'll have to see.... baby steps and all that...

White Lady & PYO might be a bit too wet.

I thought ‘caves, great, none of this getting blown out shit.’

And then it rains/snows/etc and you’re buggered anyway.

Maybe I’ll just give in and get a PS4 & plenty of Scotch.

Let’s see how the weather is. Will probably do Dina’s Fri if the conditions are bad and take things from there.
