Is anyone interested in a week in Malta in Sept/Oct/Nov this year?

No commitment, just expressions of interest.

If it's me, it'll be Rec level diving <30m -- AOW level.

You've six months to work on the update! Well doable in that timeframe.

Another idea would be for you to do the AOW in Malta!

I'm not. Got Scapa in October, as you well know... In fact, aren't you coming along?

I went to Gozo last year, and may be going again this year. I loved it. The diving is also varied and there is something for pretty much all levels. Might be worth a day trip for you if you are going to Malta.

I'm not booked on it and I'm not ready this year for Tec depths. That's why I'm pondering somewhere warm for a change -- but not the Red Sea.

Gozo, Camino, Malta... Who cares! If it's a dive week then we'll be in the most interesting places anyway:)

Warm, clear water... 3.2.1. back in the room

Do you have any idea how many people do Scapa on a single? It doesn't have to be tec depths, but it will still be awesome. Plus there's a good chance you'll get to watch me sitting out most of the dives whilst my new toy beeps at me.

Oh, the YBOD. I wondered what the D stood for: Damn, it's broken again; Delay; Defer; Dawdle; Detain; Depression....

No, it's the Yellow Box Of Dejection:)

Malta's on my list, but not this year. I've got Australia in October that's taking up a big chunk of cash/pink passes/annual leave.

Yup. At the moment the plan is a three day liveaboard out of Townsville then Brisbane for little Brother's wedding anniversary. Then maybe some surfing on the gold coast before heading to Sydney with the parents.

Is Aus expensive to dive -- after you've got there?

I'm looking at $850 for a three day liveaboard, work out to about £450 at the moment.

I think I did Dry Suit, Wreck and Peak Performance Buoyancy
Nav and Deep are mandatory I think. I would have liked to have done Search & Recovery instead of drysuit looking back on it.

Main thing is to get the AOW out of the way and get some diving done to get the skills firmly embedded.

Nitrox is *essential*. Just do it as soon as you can -- it's basically a shore-based course. I think they throw in a couple of dives to pad out the course. FYI you can do a 20 minute dive at 30 metres on air, and *30* minutes on Nitrox 32%.

Dry suit is pretty much mandatory for diving in the colder UK waters. From experience, you also need to do a few dives in a dry suit following the course to get your buoyancy sorted.

Wouldn't bother with the rest of the "specialities" as you'll best learn by doing. Especially if you choose good buddies to show you how it's done properly.
