How can I edit a thread I started.
There should be an edit button just beneath your post. I can't recall exactly but I think that only lets you edit it for a certain time period (30mins?) and then you'll no longer be able to edit it. If you let me know changes you'd like made ot a post then I should be able to change these for you.
There's a 5 minute timeout.
If you want it changed, post a note attn:moderators describing the change and they can edit it. Alternatively, send a mod a PM.
Agreed, it wasn't always the case as I recall editing selling threads on here as things were sold.
The removal of edit rights was the start of the exodus from YD.
I would much prefer to have the ability to fix things, such as previous posts with images hosted in photobucket which stopped appearing.
I have a thread wanting to buy equipment & would need to delete items no longer wanted. As of yet I do not need to edit thread but will hopefully need to.
It's always been that way with the Xenforo software. I've looked for an option to change this and never found one.
I googled and found this
Few people have your level of spare time.
....or search engine skills.
Apart from ... you?
it came up as the first result to my first search. It did relate to the 2014 version and much will have changed since then.
I get one day off per week!
Will look at this presently. Have a bunch of other maintenance work to do as well.
Have updated the personal ads permissions to allow you to edit your own posts.
@kevin b, could you give it a whizz please.
can't see a edit facility
I just posted on a thread and realised there was a lot more useful stuff to add to my post and I was told the 5 minutes has expired and the post was discarded. This is crap. Why 5 minutes? why are personal ads so special ? what about trip reports when picture hosting is changed or changing names as a boat is booked or just correcting silly typos?
Is there a good reason to force all posts into permanent history as quickly as possible? Is this a preparation for a quiet transition to Vertical Scope ownership?
Vertical Stroke ownership.... ROTFL

As you well know, UKD is hardly run on a commercial basis with most running costs covered by one member and a handful of contributions from others.
The five minute limit is imposed by Xenforo. Changing the permissions seems to have no effect. But your point is well understood and desired.
