It's all CGI... visibility like that doesn't exist!

    Amazing filming. Great program.

91 years old and been paid for doing what he loves for 70 years. He got catapulted into Zoo Quest in his '20s as something happened to the original presenter (can't remember what). Their film techniques were new and were regarded as amateur by the BBC; their animal husbandry would be regarded with horror these days but they struck a cord with the UK viewers and the rest is history. This latest offering combines amazing footage with his commentary - will this be the last?

Trevallys were the highlight for me.

I've only seen them mooching around doing not much, so to see them leaping catching birds was amazing! (If not quite up there with the Iguanas and snakes in PE2!)

A great opening programme, will be interesting to see if the quality is maintained.

Probably the ones who say there is no viz and the water is green, and who only dive in blue water.

Just seen a bit of episode 2, looks good but tried to see if I could download it on Sky/BBC iPlayer in 4K and not seen anything, so does anyone know if there is a 4K version.

    Thanks.

I think 4K is only in beta on the iPlayer at the moment. We’re on it - but don’t have a 4K TV

Episode 2 was like watching something out of Harry Potter; especially the Humboldt Squid

    Hi
Thanks will have a look again more and more is coming out in 4K even Netflix is increasing it's 4K content pretty quickly. we only upgraded because our old TV was about 9yrs old.
It is def worth the upgrade if you get a good deal on a 4K TV or monitor, and need to buy a new TV/monitor. It is still not worth it yet due to lack of content if only upgrading for the sake of 4K.

It was just it looked pretty good in HD so in 4K I hope it would be spectacular.

Was interesting how the very low light shots wreaked havoc with our LCD telly. Could see loads of gradient bands in the darkness. Is 4k any better regarding colour resolution?

It depends on the TV we have a Sony 4K but it is not OLED. I think the low light is better per say and you would loose a lot of the gradient bands, but I still notice them at times. OLED 4K is fantastic I had a good look but could never justify the price hike over std 4K. I never saw any gradient bands on the OLED 4K I looked at but equally as I do not own one and see it every day it may still have some. OLED is now coming down in price and if I was looking at changing from next summer then OLED would be top of the list.

4k works better the closer you are, I see a reasonable change on our 55inch TV sat around 4m from the screen ( our old LCD was 50 inch so no major size difference ) but my PC has a 4K monitor I am normally no more than 2-3 ft away from it and 4K is a massive improvement over 1080.

But for your issue the screen quality not the actual resolution will play just as big a part, our old TV was a LCD and had same issues you describe the Sony is better but perfect.

The big high street chain ( as I am new not sure on rules re naming them ) is ideal to compare and those we went in allowed me to give them a USB stick to plug in with content ie SIFI and sports etc so I could compare them with what I would watch.
