If going for the Red Sea let's aim for the latter part of the year.
I girst dived the Blenheim bomber in 2000 when it was still a bit of a secret and it remains one of my most memorable dives.
Yes I get that.
If you where going to Malta I would be interested depending on cost, as I would like to take my AOW at least before then along with buying more gear.
Mellieha would be a good base on Malta lots of dive centres in the area and pretty much central as it is close for the Gozo ferry as well.
Mellieha does have it's own heart attack hill in the town centre but Mikes music bar is a great cheap place for a drink and chat at the end of the day ( food was really good pub grub and very cheap ). Quite a good range of restaurants in town. It is a lot quieter than Bugibba, which we did not like.
Open to other recommendations though, be it Malta or somewhere else.
I agree, Mellieha is a good choice.
Mellieha also has the only decent beach on the island for the wives and kids.
Of my post above just noticed I said Mikes music bar and it is Billy's music bar.
Just yesterday got back from Mellieha Bay and some winter diving , some of the wrecks are ok, little life (med and all that) people are nice, Malta is nice...
We are planning a trip to Komodo in July. There are 4 divers already going and potentially 4 more spaces to fill. Anyone interested?
Our trip is due to start on the 1st of July so I guess we start flying 2 days earlier.
