RE: Which camera?
All in good time Pete
![]() I have plans afoot I dont want to divulge just in case I wimp out ![]() ..just thinking...if you're a UKD then the DS125 will be a hell of a benefit compared to other flashes in our dark waters (I would assume anyway!) Cant make it tomorrow now, its likely to be Sunday or Monday I will be in the area btw ![]() Check my profile bio for my dive history http://www.scubysnaps.co.uk |

RE: Which camera?
forgot to add earlier on... At my dive holiday in Maldives in January when I flooded my old set upvI hired the predecessor to the sea and sea you mention, while it felt good, the results were poor IMO, even tho it had white balance facilities

RE: Which camera?
I've joined this late but get the jist of the topic, if the DS125 is a bit rich why not look at the DS51, I have a similar setup to Woody the differences being a G7 and the DS51 to be honest I can't fault what I've got and the DS51 kit comes in at £320.

RE: Which camera?
Hi zok,
Thats what my choice was gona be if I bought from the UK, but for the same price I took the risk to go for the 125 from US. Is the ds51 TTL too? and does it hve a night beam? ![]() Check my profile bio for my dive history http://www.scubysnaps.co.uk |

RE: Which camera?
It is TTL but no night beam, I've attached an Ikelite C torch (£25) to the strobe arm.

RE: Which camera?
ah right cheers zok,
To add then, on night dives with my night beam and led c something or other, it was awesome having 2 big beams that were brighter by more than twice as much as anyone elses hired torches x 2 ![]() Check my profile bio for my dive history http://www.scubysnaps.co.uk |

RE: Which camera?
I have emailed CU to ask if there is any reason they didn't suggest the DS51 when I asked if there was a cheaper option that would work with a WA and TTL, be interesting to see their reply.
suggsy, are there any you can recommend? If we're not suppose to eat animals, why are they made of meat? |

RE: Which camera?
The DS51 has a narrower beam than the 125, a lot depends on what you want to do, I have not yet found the DS51 restrictive but then I have never tried to iluminate the entire frame when using WA.

RE: Which camera?
when I asked if I could use the AF35 previously, I got the following reply
You would need the larger strobe to cover the field of view in the wide angle lens (105ish degrees), and using a strobe with a sync cord would allow you TTL. The AF35 slave unit would not give you TTL and would not cover the angle of view so you would only partially light the scene (80 degrees). While I understand that maybe the AF35 wouldn't be the best option because I wouldn't utilise the TTL, I'm wondering why they didn't suggest the ds51 as I asked if there was a cheaper option, the opinion I got was that if I wanted to go WA with Ikelite housing I had to go for the DS125 If we're not suppose to eat animals, why are they made of meat? |
