Kit to avoid!
Ok last kit list post turned into a bit of a f*ckup so I thought how about kit you've bought that has been totally shit a waste of money!
hopefully their should be some differing opinions and that should give a good broad picture of shit kit. I'll start:
scuba pro reel. absolute bag of crap £60 paid for something that tried to kill me on the three dives i used it on. the hand locking mechanisum (grip it to unlock it) was worse than useless. aviod at all costs. Trutle fins, like having concrete strapped to your feet. couldn't walk after using them. (but i do have a shagged leg) rubber fin straps! all of them! Almost anything cheap.
I bought a cheap backup torch to keep in my pocket for those times I don't take my monster, when I needed it it was flooded. I bought Scubapro R295 reg's as her first set (it was all I could afford at the time and the shop were selling them off cheap), I've just replaced them with better (more expensive) Scubapro reg's and she's much happier (so am I), her R295's have become my pool reg's and I've realised what a bad set of reg's they are. I should have asked why the shop was selling them off cheap. Second-hand dry-suits, I've bought 2, one was as new but didn't fit so I sold them and actually made a few pounds, the other dry-suit cost me more in repairs than I made on the other one, you live and learn. Hoods, my cheap yellow one (unbranded) fell apart, my black Scubapro hood is warmer, stronger and a better fit as well as lasting longer (shows no signs of falling apart after 18 months of hard work). UKD8R lantern torch, or anyother large torch with a screw on bezel that needs to be removed to charge/replace batteries.

Sorry, but I haven't regretted buying ANY of my dive kit.
I will change my rubber finstraps to springs very soon. 
If Andrew Lloyd-Webber wrote a brand new hit musical, would he make a song & dance about it???? |
