Best Mask
What do you think the best type of Mask would be for me, they have some in ALDI which look pretty good.
I have quite a small face and if you went to Porth Kerris you will remember i have a lot of facial hair . I always struggled a bit with the dive school kit my hair semed to make sealing my mask difficult. Are there any tips on getting over this as i don't really want to resort to shaving all my hair of like i saw Nottrick did in an old post.

RE: Best Mask
Something that fits well is an obvious consideration but another one is, can you get enough grip on your nose to equalise through the nose pocke? Like you, if you don't mind me saying so, I have quite a long pointy nose and my Mares Opera isn't great for getting a good grip of me snout to equalise. I'm gonna buy a liquid skin as they're really soft and they fit me well.

RE: Best Mask
I just bought the new Scubapro Spectra (Though it was accused of looking i quote "A bit gay")
I found it fitted really well and i preferred it to the xvision. The one i have has a black skirt which i prefer to the clear. Can't comment on the facial hair bit but miniman was using vaseline or similar, i think it was to help his mask seal

RE: Best Mask
I always seem to struggle with masks, but I recently bought an Oceanic mini shadow for £19.95 from divingshop.com
http://www.divingshop.com/Shop/ShopProdu...ductId=757 Took it to Vobster last weekend, 5 dives and it was excellent with no problems at all If we're not suppose to eat animals, why are they made of meat? |

RE: Best Mask
Hi Doogle,
I have an ALDI mask as a spare - just in case ! The mask I use is an oceanic shadow, mainly because I like the light concentrated through the front of the mask , not coming from all sides etc as you get with a clear skirt ALSO - I have no problem with facial hair..... Jox |

RE: Best Mask
Be free of the face fuzz!
No seriously, I'm growing my beard and moustach back now. I have heard that the full face masks are just as bad if you have a large area of face fungus. There was a bloke on Wreck detectives that had that problem and he had to shave around the seal IIRC. A bit extreme, but a solution nonetheless. In the past, I have just tightened the mask a little tighter than I normally would. That seems to seal OK. I do have a pro ear mask now and they are a bit of a bugger with hair, so I'm keeping it short and growing the beard. Oh, on a related note, the final total for donations to Everyman was just under £1900. You should all be thoroughly pleased with yourselves for helping to raise that amount. Erm... What? |

Congratulations Nottrikk. Guys, you should have consideration for us girls and shave off the facial fur. At least you can pretend it is for diving if you still want to look all hard and macho... http://www.rec-diver.co.uk |

coldhands Wrote:Congratulations Nottrikk. You shave yours and I'll shave mine ![]() Doogle, a full face mask could be the way to go as you may remember from the weekend I stuggled with a leaky mask. I would suggest that you try vaseline, but you may get some funny looks walking around with a big tub of vaseline in your mitts. Me http://www.porthkerris.com http://www.divepursuits.com |
