Drysuit - Wetsuit
Which do our forum members use for UK diving?
I am a poor student who can only afford a wetsuit (and dont have the training for a drysuit) So me, im just going to have to get tough.. as I wont let it stop me from diving, even if I end up getting medivacted out of the dive center with hyperthermia.

RE: Drysuit - Wetsuit
I have only ever used a drysuit, cos that's what we used on the Open Water training, so cannot comment on wetsuits. It was not 'additional' training though - all part of the course.

RE: Drysuit - Wetsuit
I have an 2nd hand Oceanic Flex Drysuit, which they don't even make anymore. It is now the Flexia.

Dry suit fr summer and winter. it's the standing around post dive that you will feel it in a wet / semi dry.

RE: Drysuit - Wetsuit
I learnt to dive in a drysuit and have never looked back, although the term "dry" does not necessarily apply. I always have a little dribble of water (mainly around my crotch quite embarrisingly) so never stay completely dry.
Went diving off the Normandy coast one year and all the UK divers I were with were in drysuits in 12 degree water. Another boat full of french plongee's moored up alond side us and they were all diving in well used wet suits. Poor (aah) souls. Worst I have had was Vobster in 8 degree water and my buddy in a 2 piece wetsuit. Shortest dive of my career ;-) Reality is an illusion caused by lack of alchohol |

RE: Drysuit - Wetsuit
Dry in the UK for 'most' dives, anything over 18 degrees I will go wet, at a push

RE: Drysuit - Wetsuit
On one is saying you cant its just its not very nice to be cold in the water or out of it for that matter. Before I went into a dry suit I used a 3 piece 5mm semi dry, I did the box at stoney in it and the water was 8 degrees, never felt the cold until I got out.

RE: Drysuit - Wetsuit
Dry suit for me too.....
My OW was taught with dry suits , so I'd already made the decision to continue UK diving after spending all that money - and just continued to spend more ! ( but not as much as Si!) By my AOW I had my own M2M and was toasty ! Jox |
