Arrivals from the OLD UKD...
Thought it might be nice if we all re-introduced oursleves when we migrated over....

I'm Ian (username IanStevenson on old forum, but Ian wasn't taken yet here). I live in Edinburgh, and have been diving for nearly 3 years. Sport Diver with 150+ dives, dive in the UK whenever I can - this years trips so far are Lochaline, Oban, Skye, Lochinver, Farnes....

My wife (Ruth) also dives so we dive together a lot - she is in charge of trips abroad which have so far included Thailand, Dahab (x2), Malta and Mexico.

I'm an engineer so I have an interest in the kit, physics and physiology of diving as well as the fun bit - getting wet!

Hope this forum turns out to be as good as the old one!

Ian

RE: Arrivals from the OLD UKD...
I'm here !!! you all can't get away from me that easily.

I'm a South Londoner now living in Western Australia, been here for just about 16 months.
I was a dead keen club diver along with my partner Jen and progressed to DM helping out at club level 3 nights a week and weekends with training and Jen doing club admin as well as training but since moving to Oz the local dive-scene is totally different here from our UK experiences.
No more club diving, just diving for our own pleasure.

Perhaps it is better to be irresponsible and right, than to be responsible and wrong.

Yep, no keeping me out, but I feel sure you can buy software that can

How do you edit/add to your profile?

RE: Arrivals from the OLD UKD...
Hi Guys

Been diving since 2003 and slowly approaching dive 300, most of my recreational diving is now done with a camera firmly clenched in my left hand, needless to say my buddy skills are atrocious. Unfortunately I live just about as far from the salty stuff as is possible but only 10 minutes away from Stoney so that’s where about 2/3 of my diving takes place. Other places I’ve dived:

UK:
Cornwall: Dived from Porthkerris and Looe Divers, both top outfits so have done a fair amount in Falmouth Bay plus the Scylla and the JEL which so far is my favourite UK dive.

Exmouth: Only a couple of dives and the viz was shite although the Britagne wasn’t a bad feel round.

Anglesey: Top diving from Scotts boat in probably the worst conditions I’ve ever dived in which made the dives all the much better, was with a right bunch of tossers thoughWink

Europe:
Cyprus: A few shore dives and 4 dives on the Zen which is a fantastic dive.

Lanzarote: Again a few shore dives round Puerto Del Carmen, not long qualified but from what I can remember sharp drop offs and plenty of life, liked it so I’m going back this year to do a bit more.

Croatia: Dived the Adriatic from Vela Luca, nice dives but not a lot of life, would search out wreck diving if I was to return.

Red Sea:
Dahab: Dived with Emperor who no longer operate out of Dahab, would go with RSR next time anyway, plenty of good shore diving, favourites would be Bells and the Canyon.

Sharm: Dive and stay with Camel, great day boats but last time went during Ramadan which meant early starts in the morning, favourite site would be Shark and Yolanda which seems different every time you visit.

Live aboard: Red Sea Explorers, absolutely the best organisation I have ever dived with, sadly I can’t make it this year due to lack of funds but I’m ready to put my name down for the 2009 trip. The amount of freedom that your given, the dive sites that were visited and the way that you’re looked after by the crew has by far made that the best dive break I have ever been on. Favourite dive site (southern) was the reef that is full of caverns (Claudia), top moment SD doing a giant stride entry without his fins on.

Well I think that’s my longest ever post but I was miffed that Ian had posted before me so decided to make it longer.

RE: Arrivals from the OLD UKD...
Hi, its Pete Stewart from the old Forum. Just moved across having seen Pete 'T's posting.

Been diving just short of 2 years, just over 200 dips logged. Managed to reach DM and enjoy diving anywhere I can.

Been to Dahab 4 times, Sharm once, Spain, Farnes, St Abbs and Portland. Looking to expand on destinations this year.

I'm here too!

Been diving since September 2005, now have 120 logged dives. Qualified as DM last November. Big difference in my confidence since the early days!

Looking forward to getting out to Dahab again soon but funds won't allow it right now. Dive regularly at Abercastle and St Brides in Pembrokeshire. This year sees me waiting patiently to get to try out my drysuit. Should be interesting...
