I am looking for insurance for my kit but also for any other issues should I have an accident: helicopters, chambers etc
Any suggestions? |

RE: Insurance
Best i have come across and who i am insured with is westfield. Ring them and speak tp Colin, he will go through everything you need and let you know how much it will cos.
Divermaster are also good. It is always worth shopping around, but if yo go with the cheapest make sure that it has the totality of cover you need. As for kit, check that your house insurance does not cover it. Tis better to keep quiet and appear to be an idiot than to open your mouth and prove it beyond doubt |

RE: Insurance
This is something im currently shopping around for to. WHat quotes have you had so far? SOme only cover to 18m. Il be doing my AOW so il need to 30m.
There are lots of competitive prices out there and i myself actually wonder who to go with that are not just there to rip you off. As for scuba gear well make sure you have that covered by your house insurance. |

RE: Insurance
Dan, Divemaster or Westfield. They all have fixed resonable prices so no ripping-off to be had...

RE: Insurance
For personal accident, chamber etc I'd go with DAN. From what I've seen to date, their policy offers the least restrictions, they also work closely with the chambers, as well as with diving research and medicine, so some of the money you pay to them comes back around to benefit diving safety as a whole. But do remember, you only need health insurance if you are travelling abroad, UK accidents etc are all free of charge for us (at the mo, at least!)
Equipment insurance, I've always used Dive Master -I've only had to claim once, 7 years ago for a flood on a video unit, the payment was prompt and hassle free, so they definitely get my vote. |

RE: Insurance
I also am with Divemaster, never had to claim thankfully but they seem to be competetive and cover the diver to their qualified depth max.

RE: Insurance
I've spoken to both Divemaster and Westfield in the last 2 days. For annual multi-trip cover, Divemaster are around £140 but Westfield are about £215. I asked about the difference and the Westfield guy reckoned their policy is more expensive 'cos it offers more (obviously). For example, they cover you for up to £5 million personal accident / rescue / getting the army out to find you / chambers / repatriation etc. whereas Divemaster only offers something like £130,000. This seemed a bit odd to me, as I would have thought most 'recommended' companies are probably offering something pretty similar for a pretty similar price.
Not had time to look at it all just yet, but the Westfield guy was more than happy to let me go away and check out the facts... |

RE: Insurance
When I was a working Diver I ha divemaster. Covered me for my liability upto 5M and cost me 96.25 with no presonal accident cover. Now I am no longer working
So reckon DAN offers the best for my needs i.e. Peronal injury, kit cover and the extra benefit of having other cover attached to it, for example, say I got bitten by a woolymamoth DAN would cover me for the re-attachement of any limbs said woolymamoth removed from my person.

RE: Insurance
I wanna go diving with a woolly mammoth!!! Where do you reckon is best for mammoth-spotting?!
(Nice to know I'd be covered by the insurance as well, should he decide to get 'friendly'!) |
