Managed to get a message through on Facebook - thought you might all want to know how he's getting on...
"he is in hospital yes. i don't know how much you know so i'll tell you all i know, regarding my dad. he tried to lie on his back a few weeks ago and found this stopped him from breathing. so he went hospital where they told him he was 'very special'. they decided it was his diaphram that wasn't working properly but didn't know why so the sent him to a neurological department at another hospital. he was steadily getting better which indicated it was an infection of the nerves around the napia. to confirm it they had to stick a big needle in the base of his spine and drain some fluid, which then naturally replaces itself with fluid draining down from the brain. this has made him feel pretty bad, as you can imagine it would, but it's just the side effects. it turned out it was an infection of the nerves which is self healing, but takes time. we're hoping he can come out of hospital by the end of this week or next week 'cus he's bored stiff. i'll let him know you asked after him and tell him how selfish he is for letting you down. ta ta take care." "very special"? He didn't need a hospital to tell him that - we've known it for years!! Sounds like he's on the mend though, which is good news. Bit of a nightmare to find out that lying down stops you from breathing, eh?! |
