RE: Wow Great News
It's much colder than you think when you go deeper, isn't it? And quite dark. I can see why a torch would be useful as well.
I'm looking for a drysuit next. But they cost quite a lot and I haven't really got the tools to make my own rebreather and they cost even more!! And from what you lot say about torches, I'm going to need to remortgage my house to get one...although my house is quite small, I'm not sure it would make enough for a big torch. I'm running out of space to put things as well, what with all these bungee ropes and bits and bobs. How on earth do I decide what to spend money on first? The rebreather - all I can say is it's a good job I read some books and watched a programme about it on the telly first. Bubble maker with ambition! If you could....You would! |

Does your missus have a sewing machine ? if so you're halfway there. Get yourself and old boiler suit, some aquaseal, bin liners, lots of velcro and maybe some neo. Clearly there are otheer materials that you could use but the boiler suit sorta springs to mind. Put on the ol' thinking cap and get into the 'Scrap-heap-challenge' mentality and you'll crack it. Good luck and please report back on your progress. Perhaps it is better to be irresponsible and right, than to be responsible and wrong. ![]() AMF 660 - Suzi 225 |

RE: Wow Great News
I think the cost of a rebreather is just too much and my allowance is virtually non-existent. But hey ho you don't bite the hand that feeds you. (Though he could definitely afford it)
I have been digging into trimix. I think it must be really easy to learn as Bottlefish does it & even Sira is learning. I have been doggedly searching the internet for more information and I think I have learnt enough to give it a go as the course seems really expensive and to be honest a bit boring. The helium looks like it could be fun, I will definitely be taking some balloons with me!! ![]() Thanks St Pepper for the tips on making my own drysuit, I have trouble with scissors and I am not sure that glue and I should really be in the same room. No need to worry about the glue Doogle. Your local emergency unit will carry copious amounts of solvent and have you free in no time. Happy sticking.
