RE: Buying Kit from Scratch
The guy who sits next to me at work is an ex tech rebreather diver, and when I asked him about them his exact words were 'They are F****** dangerous, if you get it wrong they will kill you'. His daughter has just learned to dive and wanted the rebreather, but he wouldn't let her have it amd has just sold it for an obscene amount of money....

I think I'll stick to Nitrox cylinders.....

I agree all diving can be dangerous.
But rebreather diving dosen't have to be any more dangerous than open circuit.
Training, maintainence, experience and diligence go along way.
No matter what type of diving you do.
I'm not a rebreather diver myself, but know of a former Marine diver with 2500+ hours on closed circuit rebreathers.
Thats a long time and he's still alive.

Sadly, I do have a picture of them on my phone...I make all my non-diving friends try to get excited about them too but they just don't understand. Even my diving friends are only humouring me...!

I do have some Avengers boots up in the costume room somewhere - not sure if they'd be compatible with my fins though!

RE: Buying Kit from Scratch
I want a rebreather for the video stuff. Fish get closer and therefore you shots are just so much better. Although you wouldn't be able to do the lean backwards, point camera in air and get shot of bubbles going up, which always makes a nice transition. Hmmmm.... Nope, still want the rebreather.
