Want to learn to dive, but a bit lost!
Diving is one of those things that I have been meaning to learn for many years now, but never manage to get around to. Came close when I lived in South Africa by buying snorkeling stuff for a starter, but since moving to the UK, have put the idea on the back-burner.
My question(s) is (are), what on earth do I actually NEED to learn?? 

I have looked at a few web sites offering tuition, and the array of courses on offer is simply mind-boggling. My aim with wanting to learn (if this helps?) is purely something else to do when on holiday etc.

Using and choosing an Underwater Digital Camera.

Lion FishDigital Photography is becoming a very popular past time for a lot of people. It’s the ease of use and the instantaneous results that makes it so interesting. A person would be forgiven for thinking that this type of sophisticated electronics would not go near the water, never mind bringing it to the beach. This is not so…. Manufactures of consumer digital cameras will most likely be producing an underwater housing for it also. These housings are affordable, small and can go to a depth of 30+ meters. This is more than enough for recreational diving. Just pop your digital camera in to the housing and dive.

I have been a diver almost as long as I have been a psychologist. I began training with the British Sub Aqua Club in 1975, two years after I started on an undergraduate psychology course. At one point, the two even came together when I studied the effects of stress, along with a colleague, Arthur Grierson, who was an active sky diver.
